Philadelphia Flyers - Worst Team in the NHL

It's official. On Sunday night, the St. Louis Blues scooped up one point in the standings and the Flyers are now tied for last place in the entire NHL. (UPDATE 12/19: Tonight the Blues won, and the Flyers lost, so now we have sole possession of last place.) You know the last time Philly got a point? It was Saturday, Dec. 2 in an OTL to the New Jersey Devils. Including that overtime loss, we have lost 6 games in a row. This was after a nice stretch of 3 wins in 4 games. It's sure a good thing that they hired Bob Clarke as a VP and traded away 25-year-old Freddy Meyer to pick up another 34-year-old big slow defenseman. I thought this kind of nonsense wasn't going to happen any more?

So much for hockey. Maybe I'll go see Lehigh's last home game of the season on Sunday Jan 19. Until then, at least the weather's nice.

My dad has nothing but bad things to say about Clarke, mostly involving Clarke being an old fogey who hasn't been willing to change with the game. I thought of this because my dad's examples include overvaluing defensemen as playmakers.
